It's actually Jeep related, but whatever.
So, I finally lifted the new Jeep.
Install wouldn't have been so bad had I had the proper tools to do it with. Should have only taken about 2-3 hours, instead it took 5. Everything is a pain in the ass when you have to hunt for tools and then use only combo wrenches to do the whole job except for the two rear shocks.
Overall, the jeep is sitting between 2.25" and 3" higher, waiting for the lift to "settle" for a total amount.
I did the frankenlift sort of thing. Bought what I needed and left out what I didn't need or want. I bought a set of Rubicon Unlimited springs with the highest coil rate available from the factory for around $80. Then I bought a set of Rough Country 2.2 shocks for $70 from a local jeeper. I found on the clearance rack of the local jeep dealer a set of Rubicon Express 3/4" lift pucks for $40 for the pair so I used those as well.
The Rubicon springs provide at minimum 1.5" of lift for my Jeep. Adding the .75" pucks makes the 2.25.
The ride is a little bit stiffer but should mellow out in a day or two once everything settles. It doesn't wobble anymore than it did from the factory and it still looks ok with the factory 32" rubicon tires.
All in all, I'm pleased! _________________ 2005 Turbo Van -- 14.4@100 - tire frying FWD

I have a few pics of the install, but none of the jeep after it's finished. Maybe I'll wash it on Friday and grab a few.. _________________ 2005 Turbo Van -- 14.4@100 - tire frying FWD

Yeah, story of my fucking life. I can't wait until I'm 90 and I've finally acquired enough tools that I basically have every tool in the world. _________________ "We're on a mission from God." |
